Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

As Domain Lead – Practitioner, you will provide academic leadership for all curriculum content aligned with Australian Medical Council (AMC) Domain 1: Practitioner, ensuring graduates are clinically safe, person-centred, culturally safe, and ready for supervised internship in Aotearoa New Zealand.

You will ensure that the Australian Medical Council  (AMC) Domain 1 Practitioner content is systematically embedded and integrated across the entirety of the Doctor of Medicine programme, including all curriculum structures and resources such as case-based learning (CBL), the virtual community society of patients, family and whānau, assessment frameworks, academic teaching modules, clinical learning environments and longitudinal curriculum themes.

You will work closely with other Domain Leads, clinical partners, subject-matter experts, and the NZGSM leadership team to create a robust, coherent, and accreditation-ready curriculum.

This is a 2-year fixed-term role based at our Hamilton campus. Salary and benefits are competitive, and based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. You will be an experienced medical practitioner with recognised clinical expertise and a strong commitment to medical education.

You will bring:

• A medical degree (or equivalent) and significant clinical experience.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical teaching, supervision, and curriculum delivery.
• Experience designing or delivering case-based learning, simulation, or clinical skills training.
• A deep understanding of the Aotearoa health system, te Tiriti o Waitangi, Hauora Māori, Pacific health, and health equity.
• Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively with clinicians, educators, iwi, Pacific health providers, and community partners.
• Commitment to culturally safe, person-centred practice and equitable learning environments.

Preferred candidates will also bring experience in medical curriculum design, accreditation processes, virtual patient systems, or digital-health teaching. You are a reflective, inclusive leader who communicates clearly and inspires confidence among students, faculty, and clinical partners.
