Marine Engineer

About the role:
This is an expression of interest for Marine Engineers or Technicians to work on a vessel refurbishment project as part of our client's auditing team. Use your marine engineering knowledge to ensure isolations and controls are in place and being followed for pre authorized work onboard vessels.
This will include working closely with Naval personnel and third party Contractors to:
- Review and audit JSA's to ensure controls are in place and being followed for ongoing work.
- Witness and verify isolations.
- Participate in and co-ordinate emergency drills.
- Ensure all authorized work has completed paperwork and testing before commencing.
- Monitor ongoing work for any unforeseen risks or hazards.
This role will likely start in March 2026 and is likely to run for between 6-12 months depending on workload. You'll enjoy a 4 day work week (between Monday - Saturday) with 10 hour days.
Skills + Experience:
For this role you will need:
- A Trade Qualification in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
- Full practicing EWRB or equivalent for Technicians
- At least 3 years New Zealand industry work experience - in a marine or similar environment
- To be process driven
- Strong communication skills
- The ability to work and move at pace in confined spaces
- A clean criminal record
Pay + Benefits:
- A competitive rate is offered for either PAYE or GST contractors
- Job specific training + PPE (excluding safety boots) will be provided

About the Company:
Our client is a stable, essential service business who is the major provider of engineering services to the marine industry in NZ, operating at NZ's largest dry dock. They undertake major projects for the refurbishment of Naval vessels and offer a range of short and long term project based contracts.
