About the Role

This position is part of the Workfirst team and situated in the Early Intervention Service. The WorkFirst Occupational Therapist is guided by the evidence based supported employment model IPS (Individual and Placement Support) and career development models appropriate to transition aged youth.

A focus is on building and maintaining working relationships with the client's whanau, the EIS team, the WorkFirst team and appropriate outside agencies in support of the young person's career goals.

The role involves a client centered approach to exploring career options, supporting the successful attainment and retention of employment and/or engagement in study.

About the Team/Service Location

The Early Intervention Service is an innovative, creative multidisciplinary team which offers assessment and treatment to young people (13 to 25 years) presenting to mental health services with a first-time psychotic disorder - we work hard to minimise the impact of the disorder on young peoples' lives through offering a client centred, strengths based and collaborative support programme. The team are inspired by the recovery'focused framework laid out in the book Recovery after a first episode of psychosis. We regularly evaluate our outcomes allowing us to constantly adjust, improve and innovate the services we provide.

We provide a sub-regional service across the Greater Wellington Region (Welington, Poriua, Kapiti and Hutt) as well as delivering consultation-liaison and training to mental health services in the Central Region DHBs.

About you

  • Do you feel inspired by the possibility of helping youth within the mental health service achieve their career goals and find employment or a study pathway?
  • Do you have a high standard of written and verbal communication skills and have excellent time management skill and organizational ability?
  • Then you're the person we need We are looking for an occupoational therapist with a passion for helping the youth of the Wellington Mental Health Services to obtain and maintain the employment or study that will enable them to lead the life they want to live
  • Full drivers licence essential.
