At Newtown Union Health Service NUHS, we're passionate about providing accessible and equitable health care for everyone in our community. Our Outreach Immunisation Service OIS supports whānau across the Wellington region — from the eastern and southern suburbs through to Churton Park in the north, including Mākara and Ōhāriu Valley.
We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Outreach Immunisation team. This role plays a key part in improving immunisation rates by connecting with whānau who face barriers accessing primary health care — helping ensure tamariki receive their immunisations and the best possible start in life.

As an Immunisation Outreach Nurse, you will:
- Receive and respond to referrals from primary healthcare providers and update data in the Aotearoa Immunisation Register
- Contact parents and caregivers to discuss immunisation requirements and arrange home visits
- Build trusting relationships with whānau, providing education and encouragement in a culturally safe and supportive way
- Visit 3–4 families per day alongside another experienced immunisation nurse, administering vaccines and ensuring cold chain standards are maintained
- Manage any adverse events and maintain accurate documentation in national databases
- Contribute to service reporting and continuous improvement
- This is a balanced role — part clinic-based contacting families and updating records and part community-based visiting whānau in their homes
Hours of work: 0.4FTE Wednesday & Thursday

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to engage respectfully with diverse communities, including Māori, Pacific, Asian, African and refugee whānau
- Life experience and sound judgement — empathetic, non-judgemental, and culturally aware
- Good organisational and administration skills, with attention to detail when managing records and reporting
- Full New Zealand driver's licence a pool car is provided
- We're looking for someone who has mana in their mahi, empathy for others, and the drive to make a difference
