**About the Role**

This is a rare opportunity to join Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley as a Mātanga Tapuhi Nurse Practitioner - Palliative Care. Working across Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital, you - ll provide advanced, autonomous, and collaborative care to patients and whānau with complex palliative care needs. Your role will combine direct clinical care, expert symptom management, and leadership of the palliative nursing team, helping to shape service delivery and influence palliative care culture across the district.

You - ll manage a varied caseload, provide specialist advice to clinicians across the hospital, support complex decision-making, and work closely with community and hospice partners to ensure seamless care for patients transitioning between care settings.

**About the Team/Service Location**

The Hospital Palliative Care Service is a small but highly skilled multidisciplinary team based at Wellington Regional Hospital, with outreach to Kenepuru Hospital. We work closely with hospital teams, primary care, community providers, and hospices to ensure equitable, patient-centred palliative care. Our service sees over 1000 new patients each year, spanning both malignant and non-malignant conditions.

**About you**

We are seeking an experienced and innovative nurse leader who is committed to improving palliative care outcomes. You will bring:

- Current Mātanga Tapuhi NP registration with NCNZ and a Clinical Masters (including NP practicum)
- At least four years - experience in palliative care nursing, with advanced clinical assessment and prescribing skills
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring capability
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and settings
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for Māori, Pacific peoples, and underserved populations
