A Fixed Term Summer position is now open for an enthusiastic, motivated capable chef who is keen to learn, grow and work with our team at Hygge

Hygge has an opening for an experienced and motivated individual over the coming summer from November to April.

This is a high energy kitchen, covering a number of food styles from café cabinet through, daytime a la carté dining, day and evening gatherings, evening functions, Events, weddings and variations of all these.

Applicants will be required to prepare a variety of food offerings for Kitchen and Cabinet and will, where necessary, be trained in Pastry, a La Carte, Functions and Events. Hygge promotes every chef to excel.

Training programs for management, leadership and finance are encouraged and available.

Hygge operates open book management. An incentive program where everyone shares in the financial performance and planning of the café. A clear plan and progress sees good weekly incentive payments throughout the year

Hygge is a spectacular seaside venue a few minutes drive south of Hastings, Havelock North and Napier, with sweeping views of the ranges to the west, Mahia to the North and Cape Kidnappers to the East.

There is a lot of good stuff happening at Hygge and those joining us are encouraged to grow and excel

Hours are mornings to late afternoon most days with evening functions (usually weekends) and more so through summer. Minimum guaranteed hours per week. Weekly Remuneration is set around the $32 dependant on skill

Applicants Must:

  • Have their own transport
  • Have a current NZ drivers' licence
  • Hold a valid and current NZ work visa if applicable
  • Be able to work weekends
  • Provide relevant and current references
  • Provide up to date CV
  • Have 2 years minimum practical experience
  • Be prepared to take responsibility when required
  • Be reliable and timely
  • Be sociable and enjoy a good time
