Looking for a fresh start in the new year? We're after a Sous Chef / Kitchen Team Leader to run the ship in our sunny beachside café with a killer brunch game, mouth-watering cabinet food, and a relaxed shared-plates dinner service (only one night a week — we're not running a nightclub).
You'll lead a tight crew of 4 cooks and dishwasher, and work with the owner to keep menus fresh and on point (seasonal updates twice a year). Events and private functions are a growing part of what we do — if you've got catering flair, even better.
What You'll Be Stirring Up:
- Running daily kitchen ops like a pro
- Overseeing brunch, cabinet, and evening service (shared plates only)
- Creating function + event catering menus
- Doing food costings, recipes, and online ordering
- Keeping us squeaky clean with food safety & hygiene
- Bringing ideas to the table for menu changes and improvements
- Solid café leadership experience
- Great food instincts and plate pride
- Cost control + stock skills that don't need hand-holding
- Confident with a mouse (the computer kind)
- Calm when it's chaos, nice to be around when it's not
- 6 days a week (closed Tuesdays)
- One dinner service a week (Fridays)
- We work hard, laugh often, and cook bloody good food
