About the Role

The Duty Nurse Manager role is based in the Integrated Operation Centre (IOC) and works alongside the IOC team to provide efficient, effective patient flow and clinical leadership of Whanganui hospital, to ensure that services are effectively meeting the needs of patients, attending practitioners, and staff.

The work is varied and extremely rewarding, where no two days are the same. Hours will be rostered and rotating through all shifts

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our team of Duty Nurse Managers work collaboratively with the senior management team, Clinical Nurse Managers and Co – Ordinators to ensure we have appropriate skilled resource to the manage the hospital, as per CCDM.

This role involves :

  • Excellent leadership skills to provide management, leadership and coordination of the team/s after hours
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Supporting staff to provide a safe, quality service for patients and families
  • Ongoing development of professional knowledge, skills and leadership
  • Encourage and support staff to work as an effective, collaborative patient centered team
  • Effective and efficient use of resources, [1]
  • Excellent operational understanding of Trendcare and CCDM
  • Effective ability to ensure patient flow in and out of the organisation
  • Ability to manage and utilise VRM during times of increased demand
  • Effective critical thinking and communication skills
  • Demonstrate solution focused outcomes
  • Holds, or is working towards a senior or expert portfolio

About you

To be successful in this position you will need to

  • Current APC
  • Demonstrate proven leadership history,
  • Be innovative and confident in your decision making,
  • Have excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Sound computer skills and working knowledge of Trendcare and Variance Response Management
  • Have the ability to make effective timely decisions within a collaborative model

  • Effectively able to resolve conflict

  • Recent acute nursing experience
  • Current CORE certification
