The newly established Commercial Directorate within the Procurement, Supply Chain & Health Technology Management (PSC&HTM) team at Health New Zealand is a national function with a vast and complex scope. They play a critical role in ensuring the availability, safety, and efficiency of clinical and non-clinical goods and services across the health system. Responsible for managing and influencing over $9 billion in annual spend, the team are central to delivering high-quality patient outcomes and standardising product usage across regions.

About the Role

As Supplier Performance Manager within the Commercial Directorate, you will oversee the contract management lifecycle across a significant spend portfolio. Ensuring that our suppliers are delivering the value, quality, and outcomes our health system depends on.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role that directly contributes to the performance and integrity of our supplier relationships.

You'll work closely with Category Managers to develop Joint Business Plans, monitor performance, and provide insights that drive continuous improvement. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that Health NZ's commercial partnerships are aligned with our strategic goals and delivering maximum public value.

You're a strategic thinker with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for making systems work better. You bring deep experience in contract management and supplier performance, and you know how to turn data into decisions that drive improvement.

You want your work to have purpose. At Health NZ, you'll be helping ensure that every contract, every supplier relationship, and every dollar spent contributes to a health system that's fairer, smarter, and more responsive to the needs of our communities.

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial roles, with a focus on contract and supplier performance.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and drive value.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations-health or public sector experience is a plus.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and service excellence.
