Te Tūranga | The Role

We're looking for a strategic, people-focused leader to take on the Head of Investment Management role - helping shape how the FMA delivers on its mission to foster the fairest financial sector in the world.

In this role, you'll:

  • Lead our investment management supervision work and influence wider regulatory priorities.
  • Oversee operational and regulatory programmes that make a real impact.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation and industry.
  • Shape future direction and priorities at both team and enterprise level.

You'll bring:

  • Passion and purpose to contribute to the FMA's mission.
  • Proven leadership that supports growth, development, and wellbeing.
  • Credibility in the investment management sector or the ability to build it quickly.
  • Strategic thinking and influence at an enterprise level.
  • Strong communication and relationship skills - balancing detail with big-picture thinking.
  • A one-FMA-team mindset - collaborative, adaptable, and ready to roll up your sleeves when needed.

This is a visible leadership role with reach across the FMA and our stakeholders. While Auckland presence is preferred, we welcome Wellington-based applicants who can travel as needed.
