About the role

We have a full-time position for a Truck Driver / Nursery Worker to join the team at Persson's Nurseries Ltd in Palmerston North. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our thriving horticulture business, including delivering our plants to retailers and commercial growers.

We're looking for a truck driver who will enjoy a stable long-term career, grow and learn within our nursery.

Must have a truck license class 2 and be able to pass a drug test.

Monday - Friday

What you'll be doing

  • Assembling orders and delivering plants in our trucks. This will be two or three days driving, day trips only not overnight. It will include forklift and tractor work, all training will be provided.
  • Watering and monitoring the health and growth of plants.
  • Performing various tasks related to the operation and upkeep of the nursery, such as weeding, cleaning, and tidying. Ensuring the nursery environment is clean, organized, and adheres to health and safety standards
  • Helping with the preparation and packaging of plants for sale or distribution
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients

What we're looking for

  • Prior experience is not necessary and training will be provided.
  • Someone with a truck class 2 license, with a safe, good driving history.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully
  • A positive, customer-focused attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
