Whānau Support & Kindergarten Liaison Officer Location: Te Pou Tari - Head Office, Porirua Organisation: Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens Employment Type: Full-time - 40 hours per week

We're looking for someone who thrives on connection and collaboration. You'll bring empathy, great communication skills, and a genuine desire to support whānau and tamariki. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A respectful, inclusive approach to working with whānau and communities
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
  • Experience in administration or financial processes and the ability to understand and use the requirements from external agencies.

About the Role

As a Whānau Support & Kindergarten Liaison Officer, you'll be a key connector between our kindergartens, whānau, and external agencies. Your mahi will help ensure families can access the support they're entitled to, including Family Boost and childcare subsidies. You'll also assist kindergartens with grant applications and provide guidance on financial processes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting whānau with information and guidance around fees, contributions, and Family Boost
  • Working with agencies like MSD and IRD to help families access financial support
  • Assisting kindergartens with attendance and funding-related queries
  • Offering practical advice to kindergarten teams on budgeting and planning
  • Building relationships with community grant providers
  • Helping kindergartens with grant applications and reporting
