About the role

Wairarapa Village is seeking a skilled Maintenance professional to join our team. As a Maintenance employee, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our Care Facility. This is a full-time position based in Masterton, Wellington, where you will be responsible for completing a variety of maintenance tasks to keep our facilities in top condition.

What you'll be doing

  1. Performing general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and infrastructure within the Care Home
  2. Diagnosing and resolving issues with electrical and plumbing.
  3. Completing minor carpentry, painting, and landscaping work as required
  4. Conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance to identify and address any issues proactively
  5. Responding promptly to resident requests and addressing maintenance concerns in a timely manner
  6. Adhering to all health and safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  7. Collaborating with the wider team to maintain the overall functionality and aesthetics of the Village

What we're looking for

  1. Previous experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, ideally within the trades and services industry
  2. Strong technical skills and a good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and trade services
  3. Proficiency in carpentry, painting, and general maintenance tasks
  4. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
  5. Commitment to providing high-quality service and ensuring the satisfaction of our residents
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the wider team and residents
  7. Flexibility to work on a range of tasks and adapt to changing priorities as needed
  8. A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transportation
