O.G.B is a bar in the heart of Christchurch that's grounded in old-fashioned style, quality, and service. Housed in the once "Old Government Buildings", from which it draws its name and inspiration, O.G.B. has both a quiet old-world ambiance during the day and a roaring, fiery soul at night. Home to the main O.G.B Bar, Parlour Lounge, sprawling Courtyard, the O.G.B Restaurant, and O.G.B. Barbershop.

We are currently looking for an experienced Chef de Partie & Kitchen Porter to join our team.

The CDPposition requires the following:

  • Preparing, cooking, and delivering high-quality meals for OGB and OGB Restaurant.
  • Guaranteeing an exceptionally high standard of culinary services offered to our guests.
  • Helping less-experienced kitchen staff during service. When appropriate or asked, help to train those staff on new cooking techniques and our in-house recipes.
  • Duly applying cooking instructions from the Head Chef.
  • Preparing the company's food offerings in alignment with the company's branding, message, positioning, market, and vision.
  • Complying with food hygiene, safety, and quality within Inkster Company venues.
  • Coordinating with Front of House Staff to ensure that the service runs smoothly at all times, including altering dishes at guests' requests to suit various dietary requirements.
  • Managing kitchen stock, supplies, and ordering within budget and ordering policies as directed.
  • Ensuring that equipment and appliances are used correctly and kept in good order.
  • Assisting with menu development and planning, in line with Gross Profit/Cost of Goods targets.
  • Completing daily ordering with various suppliers when required.
  • Ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained at all times.
  • Carrying out your duties with honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.

At least 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen and a NZ Certificate in Cookery (Level 3) or higher is required to be eligible for CDP role.

The Kitchen Porter position requires the following:

  • Washing and cleaning utensils and dishes.

  • Cleaning food preparation equipment, floors, and other kitchen tools or areas.

  • Cleaning up spillages when they occur.

  • Disposing of rubbish.

  • Ensuring proper use of chemical/cleaning products and ensuring they are stored appropriately.

  • Following all hygiene and Health and Safety regulations within the kitchen Food Preparation.

  • Assisting the Chef in the preparation and cooking of food, as required.

  • Following directions toward portion control, cooking standards, and wastage.

  • Maintaining a positive and motivated work ethic in the kitchen at all times. Handling, sorting, storing, and distributing food items.

  • Following instructions from the Chef or nominee, any other duties the employer may reasonably require.

  • Assisting in stock management and logistics where required.

  • Assisting management in carrying out logistics and other tasks.
