About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Team Leader to join our dedicated team with The Chris Ruth Centre Trust in Christchurch. In this hands on position (Monday to Friday 40 hours), you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a diverse team, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation to meet the growing demands for an additional centre for persons with very high need disabilities. Position commences in early date to be negotiated with successful applicant.

  • Providing strategic direction and leadership to the team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Working directly and hands on with persons we exist to serve
  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the centre, including managing schedules and resources
  • Liaising with healthcare professionals, persons we exist to serve, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality services
  • Implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain compliance and operational excellence
  • Identifying and addressing any issues or challenges that arise, and implementing effective solutions
  • Contributing to the overall growth and development of the centre through strategic planning and decision making
  • Representing the centre and building strong relationships with the local community

Key Objectives as per Job Description

● To work with the General Manager and CEO as required

● To oversee daily planning.

● To allocate staff to persons

● To organise relief staff as required.

● To supervise and support staff and persons.

● To oversee the Individualised Planning process for persons.

● To oversee orientation for new staff.

● To carry out staff appraisals as required.

● To oversee communication with parents/caregivers.

● To organise transport, vehicle repairs and maintenance with the General Manager's approval.

● To supervise cleaning.

● To keep the attendance register.

● To manage a person's money as required.

● To assist with the maintenance of buildings and equipment as required.

● To foster a culture of collaboration, empowerment, equity, inclusion and continuous improvement.

● To contribute to the overall management and development of the Trust.

Person Specification: as per Job Description

It is desirable for the person to have-

  1. A holistic approach to working with persons with multiple disabilities – inclusion, normalization and workplace participation.

  2. The personality and temperament to work successfully with persons with multiple disabilities eg flexible, energetic, empathetic, enthusiastic and understanding.

  3. Relevant training and experience in disability, vocational and educational sectors.

  4. The ability to work in a collaborative multidisciplinary setting.

  5. The ability to gain the respect of staff members and to work effectively with them.

  6. Demonstrated success in the fields of disability, education/training vocational and/or health services.

  7. Effective communication skills to lead, appraise, delegate responsibilities to and motivate staff.

  8. Effective organisational skills.

  9. Good health including the physical attributes needed to work with persons with physical disabilities.

  10. Appropriate experience and qualifications to deal with the health issues and the needs of the persons.

  11. Effective communication skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative and practical solutions
  • Proficiency in management, timetabling daily activities for the persons we exist to serve
  • Thorough understanding of the challenges and issues experienced by individuals with a disbility and how this impacts their family and everyday capabiliy to experience a good life
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Qualifications in disablity care or related field is highly desirable
