We're looking for a motivated and energetic Regional Sports Director to work across our Southland Secondary Schools in a challenging but rewarding role.
About the Regional Sports Director
As Regional Sports Director you'll be the driving force behind secondary school sport in our region, playing an integral leadership role in its coordination, promotion, and development. A key focus of the position will be strengthening connections between our schools, sports organisations, and School Sport New Zealand to ensure all students have access to quality sporting opportunities that promote participation, support student wellbeing, and celebrate achievement.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Coordinating and promoting sport across Southland secondary schools
- Effectively promoting student participation and wellbeing through sport
- Developing effective relationships with schools, regional sports organisations, and national bodies to ensure alignment with School Sport New Zealand requirements and objectives
- Supporting and developing school sports coordinators
- Organising and managing regional school sports events
- Provide regular reporting to School Sport New Zealand and contributing to national sport strategy
This is a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week, mainly Monday to Friday. Some flexibility will be required in the days and hours worked to manage sporting events which take place outside of usual business hours.
About You
The successful candidate will have proven experience in sports administration, education or event management, and strong organisational and leadership capabilities. The ability to network effectively to build and maintain positive working relationships is essential, along with well-developed communication skills.
A passion for youth sports, participation and wellbeing is paramount, and an understanding of the secondary school sport environment would be helpful.
A teaching qualification or registration is not a requirement of this role.
Interested?
If you're passionate about sport this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Southland students while taking on a rewarding professional challenge.
