About Us
Starting from humble beginnings in Dunedin, Cook Brothers Construction has grown substantially over the last twenty years. We currently operate across Southern Lakes, Canterbury, Otago and Auckland.
We enjoy celebrating our success and believe it is important we do so. Our team, and our projects are a testament to the hard work and commitment over this time.
Our goal is to inspire people more than to manage them. We trust our teams to do what they think is best for Cook Brothers Construction, giving them lots of freedom to make the best decisions for the company at that time.
Through innovation, quality, client satisfaction and sustainability, we strive to be a national leader in our industry, we believe our team is the heart and soul of us achieving this
If you want to be a part of this journey, then this role is for you.
About the Role
Due to continued growth across the region, Cook Brothers Construction are looking for Expressions of Interest for an experienced Leading Hand to join our team in beautiful Wanaka.
This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will set standard on site, working closely with our Site Managers, Build Team, and Foreman to ensure every project is delivered to the highest standard, on time and on budget. You will play a key role in building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, leading and supporting your team on the tools and taking a proactive, solution-focused approach to identifying and mitigating risks. Acting as a vital link between Trade Partners, Site Management and the Build Team, you will ensure communication is clear, tasks as well delegated and project delivery runs smoothly from start to finish.
About You
At Cook Brothers, we pride ourselves on being an innovative, forward-thinking company that genuinely values professional and career development. We are committed to helping our people grow by providing a supportive environment where your ideas are welcomed, your autonomy is respected, and your progression is encouraged.
We are looking for someone who is driven, takes initiative and wants to make a meaningful impact through continuous improvement and leadership. You will see your teammates as an essential part of your success, fostering a collaborative environment and tackling on-site challenges together as one team.
To succeed in this role, you will bring a recognised NZ or Australian Carpentry qualification and solid experience in commercial construction, supported by strong structural knowledge. Previous leadership experience within the construction industry is essential, along with a passion for mentoring others and celebrating team success. You will have excellent communication skills, confidence to have honest and constructive conversations, and sound IT abilities, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite.
A proactive approach to health and safety leadership is a must, while experience in high-end residential projects or holding an LBP qualification will be viewed favorably.
Benefits
You will be part of a supportive, high-performing team that values work-life balance, a positive company culture, and an active social club. With exciting projects on the horizon, there's never been a better time to join Cook Brothers Construction and help shape the future of our success in the Wanaka region.
Applicants outside the Wanaka region should outline their relocation plans and timeframe in their application.
