About the Role

As a General Physician, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive acute and inpatient care for General Medicine patients admitted to Christchurch Hospital. You will participate in a structured acute roster, conduct post-acute care and daily ward rounds, oversee patient management and discharge planning, and provide expert clinical oversight for acutely unwell patients, including those in ICU.

Your week will include a balance of acute responsibilities, outpatient clinic duties (0.1 FTE), and clinical support activities such as supervision of RMOs, teaching medical students, participation in departmental meetings, and involvement in clinical audit and service improvement.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our General Medicine team is a large, collegial, and highly experienced department providing 24/7 acute medical care. You will work closely with Registrars, House Officers, medical students, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and specialty teams across Christchurch Hospital.

• Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Internal Medicine
