Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha Canterbury is seeking a highly skilled and motivated **Respiratory Physician** to join our dedicated multidisciplinary Community team and at Christchurch Hospital, a leading tertiary care centre in New Zealand.
**About the Role**
As the Community Respiratory Physician (CRP), you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to patients with complex respiratory conditions. Working alongside a team of experienced specialists, you’ll contribute to the provision of and collaborate on integrated respiratory service development and delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Diagnosis and management of a wide range of respiratory conditions.
- CRP input into community provision of Respiratory Services, e.g., nursing and allied health, CF, Bronchiectasis home-based services.
- Active participation in research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration with the wider medical community to enhance patient outcomes.
- GP clinical support, advice, troubleshooting; Acute Demand support.
- Membership and attendance at the IRSDG, IRS and working group meetings to provide clinical input into service design, discussion of research and clinical evidence.
**About You**
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Vocational registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent qualification.
- Expertise in managing respiratory conditions and a commitment to providing patient-centered care.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
**Expected Service Outcomes**
- More respiratory services are delivered in the community, closer to the patient in their homes.
- An annual work plan for integrated respiratory services.
- Primary and secondary clinicians and teams engaged in delivering integrated care.
- Specialists and primary care physicians engaged in developing innovative strategies for the care of patients with respiratory conditions.
- Clinical education developed and delivered to primary and secondary care clinicians.
- Well supported general practice, clinically able to deliver care to patients with respiratory conditions.
- Quality improvement programmes to support clinically appropriate service delivery by Approved Providers (e.g., spirometry and sleep studies).
