Position Overview

The Electric Motor Vehicle Company (EMVC) is seeking a motivated and technically skilled E-Bike Specialist to help run the e-bike side of the business, including rentals, retail sales, and servicing.

This is a hands-on role within a growing start-up, where systems and processes are still evolving. It will suit a person with an entrepreneurial mind-set who enjoy variety, problem-solving, and taking initiative to improve how things are done. The E-bike Specialist will play a key role in delivering a great customer experience, maintaining the e-bike fleet, and shaping how EMVC's operations develop.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Sales

• Welcome and assist customers with bookings, inquiries, test rides, and bike selection.

• Manage reservations through the online booking system.

• Process payments and rental documentation.

• Deliver a friendly, professional experience that encourages repeat business and positive reviews.

Fleet & Servicing

• Conduct pre-ride and post-ride inspections on all rental bikes.

• Perform minor servicing, adjustments, and troubleshooting of mechanical or electrical faults.

• Maintain accurate records of fleet condition, utilisation, and servicing schedules.

Retail & Inventory Management

• Keep store tidy, well-presented, and stocked with accessories and consumables.

• Support the display, pricing, and sale of new e-bikes and related products.

• Assist with stock checks, ordering, and receiving goods.

Operations & Administration

• Open and close the store as rostered and ensure smooth handovers between shifts.

• Prepare bikes and accessories for upcoming bookings.

• Monitor booking schedules, and report any issues or improvement.

• Contribute to developing and refining EMVC's processes as the business grows.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all bikes meet safety standards and customers receive appropriate safety briefings.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional workspace across the shop and workshop areas.

Skills & Attributes


• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Technically confident, able to diagnose and fix basic e-bike or mechanical issues.

• Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently.

• Entrepreneurial mind-set, proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented in a start-up environment.

• Interest in cycling, sustainability, and electric mobility.

• Competent with computer systems.

Qualifications & Experience


• Experience in a customer-facing or retail role.

• Technical or mechanical background preferred.

• Basic knowledge of bicycle maintenance.

• E-bike experience advantageous.

• Current full NZ driver's licence.
