Cabot Lodge is a boutique luxury lodge located on a stunning 2000 acre property overlooking Lake Manapouri and bordering the Fiordland National Park. The Lodge accommodates a maximum of twelve guests for an all-inclusive luxury stay.

Cabot Lodge is looking for a talented and creative chef to join our small team for either a contract role (mid-January - 30 June) or a permanent position.

Cabot Lodge provides the opportunity for a chef to:

  1. Cook for a maximum of twelve guests;

  2. Enjoy flexible hours, working around our breakfast service (7.30am - 9.30am) and our dinner service (6.00pm canape hour and 7.00pm set-menu dinner service);

  3. Have regular weekends off - the role is largely Monday - Friday;

  4. Design a creative set-menu each night (based around any guests' dietary requirements);

  5. Enjoy an independent working environment, working alone in the kitchen with evening lodge assistants to help with service and dishes;

  6. Connect with guests, presenting dinner each evening to Lodge guests and answering questions and having general chats with guests about the food and farm to plate ethos;

  7. Receive a competitive salary with accommodation available at a subsidized rent only five-minutes from the property.

The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter, who is well-presented and confident interacting with guests, has a relaxed and warm personality and able to get on well with a small team. Requires experience as a head chef or working solo in a kitchen and most importantly, able to maintain flexibility - working around the requirements of our luxury clientele.

The Head Chef role is in charge of developing supplier relationships, ordering, maintaining food safety standards and health and safety requirements in the kitchen.
