Department: Customer Excellence
Job DescriptionCulture that powers progress
At Vector, our culture is more than just words - it's how we connect, collaborate and make a difference every day. It's built on a shared commitment to inclusion, innovation and creativity, shaping not just how we operate, but how we power Auckland and create a new energy future.
Here's what our people have to say about life at Vector.
Our culture sets us apart Diversity makes us stronger - We encourage our people to bring their whole selves to work, embracing ideas that challenge, inspire and drive change
Connected to our communities - We're united around delivering exceptional customer outcomes. We don't just power homes – we support lives, respond in times of need and help shape a cleaner energy future
Passionate about what we do - We take pride in keeping the lights on across Auckland, connecting families and driving industry transformation, and are excited about the legacy we're building – a smarter, cleaner energy future
A diverse culture of staff-led networks and celebrations - We're proud of our staff-led networks, and of our growing cultural calendar of events and celebrations across the year, from Matariki and Lunar New Year to Diwali and Eid.
The Role
As our next Customer Connections Specialist, you'll provide a central point of contact for customers, retailers and service providers requiring a new electricity supply, gas supply or distributed generation.
You'll carry out assessments for requests and manage all queries, issues and follow-ups throughout their life cycle. This includes operating within a technical and regulated environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and processes.
You'll act as a key liaison between customers and technical teams, explaining requirements and constraints clearly and professionally. Handling complex, complaint-driven queries with empathy and accuracy will be a key part of your role.
Expect a mix of planned work (around 80% administration) and unplanned work (around 20% customer calls), so adaptability and prioritization skills are key.
Progression opportunities: This role offers exposure to electricity, gas and distributed generation, creating pathways into contracts, delivery, control room, gas operations or even capital projects. We invest in cross-training so you'll build a broad skill set that opens doors across Vector.
The team: You'll join a collaborative team that values curiosity, learning and supporting each other. While some team members have been here for years, others bring fresh perspectives from diverse backgrounds like energy, telco and even creative industries.
Who Are We Looking For?
- A track record of providing an exceptional customer experience, ideally with external customer complaint resolution. Experience within a regulated or standards-driven industry would be highly advantageous.
- You'll be working in a highly regulated environment where compliance and accuracy are critical. This means following strict processes while maintaining a positive customer experience.
- We're looking for someone who takes ownership of issues, seeks answers proactively and ensures first-call resolution wherever possible.
- Previous administrative or coordinator experience with strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
- You'll use multiple systems daily, including SAP, Siebel, GIS and council mapping tools, so confidence with technology and attention to detail are essential.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal, with a calm and professional demeanour.
- Curiosity to learn technical information and communicate it in simple terms.
Why Vector
We know that great energy starts with great people, and we're committed to creating an environment where you can be, do and achieve your best:
- Enhance your wellbeing, protect your future and empower your personal and professional growth through our extensive benefits package
- Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, our progression scheme, tailored development plans and investment in your learning and growth
- Join a company embracing innovation and collaborating with leading names worldwide to develop and adopt cutting-edge technologies, like X The Moonshot Factory.
