At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
About The Role
As our new Civil Project Engineer, you'll play a key part in managing capital and non-routine maintenance projects that drive reliability, safety, and performance across the mill. You'll work closely with our Civil Engineering Team Leader and existing Civil Engineer, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and external partners to deliver high-value outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope, cost, and execute brownfield projects using a rigorous Front-End Loading (stage-gate) process.
- Lead risk management, commissioning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide technical support for plant breakdowns and process improvements.
- Manage vendors and consultants, ensuring compliance with OjiFS and statutory standards.
- Contribute to long-term capital and maintenance planning aligned with the mill's business strategy.
- Champion safety and risk management in a major hazard facility environment.
About You
You will hold a BE or NZCE qualification (or equivalent experience) with over five years in engineering across major process industries such as pulp & paper, petrochemical, mining, and metals. With proven expertise in brownfield project delivery, maintenance environments, and a strong grasp of engineering codes, regulations, contract administration, and budgeting, you bring both technical depth and regulatory awareness. You will be customer-focused and results-driven, with clear communication skills and a strong commitment to integrity. While familiarity with Major Hazard Facility legislation and the Resource Management Act would be advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
Why Join Us?
- Work at scale on complex, high-impact civil projects.
- Be part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Enjoy a safety-first culture with established systems and leadership commitment to continuous improvement.
- Tokoroa, Waikato location – full-time, on-site.
