Sous Chef - Royal NZ Yacht Squadron

The Royal NZ Yacht Squadron on Westhaven Drive has an opportunity for a dynamic, experienced, and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join our team. We're known for our great atmosphere, amazing harbour views If you're a natural leader, have a firm knowledge of team management, calm under pressure and have a passion for great service and hospitality, we'd love to hear from you.

We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our high-performing kitchen team. The purpose of the role is to make a positive contribution to the efficient operation of the  kitchen, produce and deliver all food to the highest standards and to share your knowledge and expertise by mentoring and guiding more junior members of the team.

To achieve this, our ideal candidate will have:

· At least five years chef experience with at least two years as a Sous Chef

· An ability to deliver innovative dishes and menus

· Excellent leadership skills and people skills to front an event professionally

· A calm demeanor, be accountable and quick thinking

· An ability to work offsite

  • Strong A la Carte restaurant background and solid cooking skills and techniques

· Supporting the Head Chef by bringing ideas, enthusiasm and an ability to play a key role in motivating and supporting the team to carry out day-to-day kitchen operations

· Delivering outstanding food that meets high-quality standards in taste, presentation and consistency, whilst meeting service, operational and financial objectives.

Confident and personable, calm and quick thinking, have excellent people and leadership skills and are able to connect with colleagues and clients alike.
