Mō te tūnga | About the Role
We're looking for a passionate and experienced Social Work professional to take on a pivotal role supporting our tamariki and rangatahi.This position provides proactive management of child abuse and non-accidental injury cases, reflecting our strong commitment to ensuring coordinated, interagency responses to protect children and young people. You'll play a key role in strengthening the response to children admitted to, or engaged with, health services through our hospital. As the lead liaison between Oranga Tamariki, the Te Whatu Ora, and other partner agencies, you'll work closely with health professionals and police to ensure a consistent, robust approach to care and protection.This is a strategic and influential role—focused on leading best practice, supporting collaboration, and driving continuous improvement across the region and nationally.

We're looking for someone who demonstrates leadership, professionalism, and a deep commitment to tamariki and rangatahi wellbeing.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Full registration (or eligibility to register) with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB)
- A tertiary qualification in social work (mandatory)
- Strong critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making skills
- Proven ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships across agencies
- Demonstrated ability to influence and improve practice across teams
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences
- An understanding and appreciation of tikanga Māori and Pacific peoples' cultures, and the ability to apply cross-cultural practice
- The ability to foster a supportive, motivating work environment and keep your team focused on achieving great outcomes for tamariki and whānau
