Working at Mt Ruapehu, you'll be surrounded by like-minded people who are flexible, willing to have a crack where needed, work hard and then ski/ride even harder

Everyone here shares a passion for the mountain and the surrounding region because of the endless possibilities for adventure. Whether it's because you love nature, the truly unique world heritage area, or the obvious draw card of skiing/riding the volcano, there are opportunities for real fun at every turn.

THE DAY TO DAY

The retails stores are located at the base of either Ski Area, and are stocked with a wide range of products to best cater to our guests' needs. There is a high level of interaction with guests on a daily basis and it is a cool place to work. As well as providing an efficient and professional service to all guests, you will need to:

  • Make sure our guests have loads of fun
  • Ensure all work areas are clean, tidy, maintained and ready for service and all tasks are completed with the right products and equipment.
  • Provide up-to-date and accurate information to the public on products and prices and what they can experience on Mt Ruapehu Ski Areas.
  • Ensure all stock is priced and security tagged.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Competently operate the Point of Sale and EFTPOS system.
  • Deal with complaints, compliments and suggestions in a helpful and empathetic manner.
  • Provide assistance to your fellow team members and around the mountain at all times.

The type of person best suited to work in our stores will possess a natural affinity for the guests, is consistent at delivering genuine and helpful service and enjoys helping guests make decisions and find resolutions to all of their needs. They are an effective communicator and have a fun and positive personality. Attendants are required to learn product knowledge on all items stocked and ensure the guest is purchasing the right product for their needs and budget. Purchases are made through a computerised Point of Sale. Attendant will process returns/credits and warranties while maintaining good guest care, and be active in following up on orders and be able to communicate effectively to guests and supervisors about these orders. Attendants are responsible for the appearance of the stores and maintenance of stock levels, including ordering and receiving stock between Whakapapa and Tūroa Ski Area.

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Previous guest service experience.
  • Cash-handling experience.
  • Commitment to great guest service.
  • Maintain an approachable and co-operative persona with co-workers and guests.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • A tolerance for uncertain market and weather conditions.
  • A flexible approach to rosters, guest needs and the direction of the organisation.
  • Helpfulness when dealing with others.
  • A positive, fun and happy personality
