We are seeking committed and reliable Machine Operators to join a well-established textile manufacturing operation based in Papatoetoe.

These roles offer casual employment with full-time hours, and temporary-to-permanent opportunities for those who show reliability, consistency, and a willingness to grow.

Shifts Available:

  • Morning: 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Afternoon: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

    (Applicants must be able to commit to one of these shifts.)

About the Work (Textile Machine Operation): 

This is hands-on, fast-paced work within a large textile production environment. You will be involved in tasks such as:

  • Operating machines involved in spinning, twisting, winding, tufting, needle punching, dyeing, and finishing processes
  • Monitoring threads, fibres, and materials as they move through the production line
  • Ensuring machinery runs smoothly and adjusting settings as required
  • Feeding raw materials into machines and ensuring correct flow
  • Checking texture, density, colour and quality of the finished textile product
  • Recording production data and reporting issues early to avoid downtime
  • Assisting with changeovers, line restarts, and machine cleaning
  • Working across multiple departments as training progresses

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in bringing machinery back online
  • Complete structured onsite training to operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Learn and follow SOPs across assigned departments
  • Operate machines and perform tasks to meet production targets
  • Collaborate with the Production Shift Supervisor and team
  • Maintain cleanliness and follow all health & safety procedures
  • Support general manufacturing and warehouse tasks when needed

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and ability to follow instructions
  • Strong team player
  • Reliable with good time management—no previous attendance issues
  • Attention to detail and basic mechanical/machine understanding (preferred but not essential)
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • Must pass a clean MOJ check
  • Must pass Drug & Alcohol screening
  • Must hold a valid NZ driver's licence and have reliable transport
  • Physically fit and reliable
  • Manufacturing or machine operating experience is beneficial but not necessary
