Te Tūranga – The Role
We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in Christchurch. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting production equipment and systems that underpin Tait's manufacturing operations.
You will play a key role in designing and improving production processes, commissioning new equipment, enhancing existing systems, and ensuring robust process controls are in place. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Hardware Engineering teams, you will help ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and to specification, while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.
The duties of the role will include:
- Developing, implementing, and improving production equipment, processes, and manufacturing systems.
- Investigating, specifying, and commissioning new technologies and equipment to support Tait product manufacture.
- Diagnosing and resolving issues on production equipment and manufacturing systems.
- Establishing and maintaining effective process control and preventive maintenance systems.
- Supporting new product introductions by ensuring manufacturability, yield targets, and equipment readiness.
- Training production staff in the operation and maintenance of production equipment.
- Contributing to production projects as a team member or leader and participating in the manufacturing call-out roster as .
Ō pūkenga – About You
- To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, technology, electronics production, or quality systems, and/or equivalent practical experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
As well as:
- Up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing best practice, design for manufacture, and productivity improvement tools.
- Experience using relevant computer applications such as MS Office, databases, statistical software, 3D modelling, and PCB design tools.
- Ideally, at least two years' experience in a commercial environment, preferably electronics manufacturing within a high-mix, low-volume setting.
- The ability to work collaboratively across functions including Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Partnering teams.
- Strong planning, documentation, and communication skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
