As part of our Transport Data team, you'll work closely with the wider Transport Unit to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. Your main focus will be managing parking restriction data and supporting GIS-related projects that help us deliver better travel options for everyone. It's a role where your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will make a real difference.

Some Key Responsibilities include:

  • Specific focus on the Parking Geo Spatial data (parking restrictions, cycle lanes, bus stops etc) and ensuring this is current and accurate – working with the Urban Transport Technical Officer for ongoing changes
  • Providing assistance and advice for the transport team on effective use of GIS data for development of information, production of maps, undertaking basic queries
  • Working closely with the GIS team to ensure ongoing timely delivery of requests for work and implementation the Geo Spatial 'self-service' facilities.
  • Assist in ensuring that the Forward Works Viewer has current and accurate information
  • Traffic counting database management and quality checks including maintaining SCATS metadata used for volumes.
  • Maintaining oversight of the various network datasets
  • Assisting with the oversight of our Intelligent Transport System (ITS) devices and correcting the data if needed (e.g. when pathways stop working)
Qualifications

  • Current clean Full NZ Drivers License.
  • Excellent numeracy and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Good level of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good knowledge of working with GIS software.
  • A proven track record of thinking differently, acting with integrity, working together and making it happen.
  • A collaborative working style, building strong networks and relationships with team members, stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to turn complex data into easily understood information to support decision making.
  • Proactive and able to use initiative to solve problems or create opportunities and make decisions.
  • Ability to operate independently, anticipate requirements and monitor workload.
  • You will be a self starter.
  • Able to deal with ambiguity
