The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Specialised Psychogeriatric Consultive Service) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and competence in dementia nursing practice and theory
  • Lead and coordinate nursing and healthcare teams providing clinical support and expertise
  • Consult and provide expert advice to patients, carers and staff relevant to dementia specialty
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, reasoning, advanced problem-solving skills and clinical judgement
  • Build team capability to deliver patient-centered and family-focused care ?

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us

The Specialised Psychogeriatric Consultative Service (SPCS) is designed to enhance the care of older adults with dementia or other neurodegenerative disorders, who present with complex behavioural and psychological symptoms and, who are not under the direct care of geriatricians. The SPCS will provide expert psychogeriatric consultation to general physicians and specialty teams caring for people living with dementia who are exhibiting a change in behaviours and psychological symptoms across services within Gold Coast Health and Hospital Service
