With the company exploring opportunities in the growing renewable energy sector, particularly large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) that are becoming important for New Zealand's renewable energy transition, there's potential for future involvement in these large-scale power industry projects.

As a Systems Integrator primarily, this company sits between traditional consultants and contractors. So you'll tackle more complex design work than typical electrical contractors offer, without the specification writing demands of consultancies. And unlike the clock-watching culture at some companies, you'll enjoy genuine flexibility with start and finish times.

You'll typically work a Monday to Friday 40-hour week, and overtime is paid at your base rate for any hours over 40 per week.

If you come with existing machinery safety experience like a CMSE certification, this can be put into practice here. And this is an area of upskilling on the job too, a sought-after qualification to have.

What you'll do

• Design electrical systems for industrial automation projects using EPLAN CAD software
• Create comprehensive drawing packages including schematics, panel layouts, and termination schedules
• Calculate motor cable sizes and specify switchboard components for 400V systems
• Develop cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
• Collaborate with automation engineers to ensure smooth integration of electrical and control systems
• Review designs for manufacturing feasibility and compliance with relevant standards

What you'll need

• Intermediate to senior level experience in electrical design (small team environment requires self-sufficiency)
• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical), or New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Electrical) (Level 6) qualification OR equivalent industrial electrical experience
• Demonstrated experience in electrical design for industrial electrical systems (400V)
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software. EPLAN preferred, AutoCAD electrical acceptable
• Background in industrial electrical environments: switchboard manufacturing, control systems integration, or industrial electrical contracting preferred
