Penrose, Auckland, New Zealand TECO New Zealand Limited Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year

About Us

TECO Australia & New Zealand is part of the global TECO Electric & Machinery Group — a world leader in high-efficiency electric motors and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). With more than 60 years in the industry, we're proud to deliver reliable products and genuine innovation across a wide range of sectors.

We believe in looking after our people, supporting professional growth, and maintaining a safe, collaborative workplace.

About the Role

We're on the hunt for a hands-on Registered Electrician to lead our workshop team. Based in Penrose, this role mixes practical electrical work with leadership and coordination across both our Auckland and Christchurch sites.

This role combines electrical and mechanical responsibilities. While you'll be leading the electrical and testing side, much of the day-to-day work also involves hands-on mechanical tasks such as fitting flanges, brakes, and bearings, particularly during the initial period.

You'll take the lead on manufacturing, modifying, and servicing electric motors and VSDs, while keeping the workshop running smoothly and to schedule.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the workshop teams across Auckland and Christchurch.
  • Planning daily production and communicating timelines across departments.
  • Manufacturing and signing off switchboards.
  • Testing, repairing, programming, and troubleshooting VSDs and motors.
  • Providing technical support to customers over the phone.
  • Modifying and painting new electric motors, including EX product modifications.
  • Carrying out hands-on assembly, wiring, and final quality checks.
  • Maintaining workshop safety, quality, and ISO9001 compliance.
  • Acting as site first aider.
  • Training and supporting team members, plus helping out with warehouse duties when needed.

What We're Looking For

  • NZ Registered Electrician — essential.
  • Experience with VSDs and rotating machinery.
  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience a bonus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to get stuck in and meet deadlines.
  • Good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.

What We Offer

  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Support from a friendly and experienced team.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge technology and innovative products.

If you're a skilled electrician who enjoys variety, teamwork, and leading from the front, we'd love to hear from you.
