Te Tahi Youth is a not-for-profit organisation providing free medical, social, and developmental support services for young people aged 10–24 years across Ōtautahi. We are dedicated to delivering accessible, friendly, non-judgmental services that place rangatahi and whānau at the centre of everything we do.

He Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Employment Navigator to join our Employment Team on a fixed-term basis, covering parental leave.

In this role, you will support rangatahi aged 15–24 to develop employability and work readiness skills, identify potential employers, and transition into sustained employment, education, or training. Your mahi will include:

  • Youth-led case management
  • One-to-one and group programme delivery
  • Whānau and community engagement
  • Supporting rangatahi to address barriers and achieve aspirational goals
  • Working collaboratively across Te Tahi Youth and with external partners

This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, employment pathways, and building strong relationships that empower rangatahi to thrive.

He Kōrero mōu – About You

You will bring:

  • A relevant qualification (Level 6+) in Youth Work, Social Work, Careers/Employment Services, Education, or equivalent experience
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive
  • Confidence in building rapport with rangatahi and whānau
  • Strong relationship-building skills with employers and professionals
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, adolescent development, and youth development approaches
  • Cultural competency, including understanding of kaupapa Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Pasifika frameworks
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
