We have a rare 24-month fixed term contract opportunity that's become available for our next Head of Claims to set the standard for operational excellence, driving a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

As Head of Claims, you will inspire and empower your team to deliver exceptional service and advice to our Members. Your leadership will be pivotal in enhancing both Member and team satisfaction, ensuring the team consistently meets and exceeds business objectives. You will champion innovation, foster professional growth, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of claims at MAS. If you are a proven senior leader with experience managing teams in medium to large size organisations and believe you can deliver for our Members whilst focusing on the vision of MAS's future, we want to hear from you.

What Your Day Might Look Like

  • Provide insightful leadership to maintain a high performance and high engagement culture by providing regular, quality performance support to help maximise the team's performance and operational outcomes
  • Act as a role model, leading by example with enthusiasm, professionalism, and confidence
  • Manage the performance of individual team members reporting to this position so that each person delivers expected results and is supported
  • Ensure individual KPIs and personal development plans for direct reports are completed and appropriate solutions are implemented in line with MAS's strategic plans and goals
  • Monitor and review the progress of the team to ensure monthly targets are achieved
  • Monitor the capability and performance of the team members by providing training, advice and feedback to improve the Member and supplier experience as well as individual capability
  • Ensure that MAS delivers claims experience to our members that is compliant from both a regulatory and internal governance standpoint
  • Proactively review activities to ensure consistency with MAS's policies and service standards

What We're Looking For

  • A strong Member focus and alignment to MAS's purpose and commercial lens to activity
  • Interpersonally savvy and strong relationship, communication and network skillsets - building professional relationship built on mutual trust and respect
  • Hold personal ownership of decisions, behaviour and development for how these actions impact on the wider organisations and Members
  • Understanding and application of the relevant legislation eg Privacy Act, COFI and FMA
  • ANZIIF qualification
  • Ability to deeply understand policies and the intent of the wording
  • Experience being part of a business wide transformation
