Our client, Pukeroa Oruawhata Group, is one of Aotearoa's pioneering Māori commercial entities, proudly owned by Ngāti Whakaue.

Formed under the Māori Land Court in 1930, Pukeroa Oruawhata Group's origins trace back to the 1882 Rotorua Township Agreement. Following one of Aotearoa's earliest Treaty settlements in 1993, the Group has built a strong and diverse commercial portfolio, including Rotorua Central, Trade Central, Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa, and shareholdings in tourism ventures such as Te Puia.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you'll ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting while contributing to governance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

You'll also play a key role in supporting the Board by delivering clear, timely, and insightful reporting to guide strategic decisions, manage debt and refinancing, and contribute to long-term sustainability.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reports and presentations, providing insight to support decision-making.
• Deliver end-to-end financial management and reporting to key customers.
• Oversee audits, GST, tax, and compliance activities.
• Manage cash flow, debt, and covenant obligations, including refinancing support.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Oversee accuracy across accounts payable, receivable, and payroll functions, and mentor team members.
• Map and manage the Tourism Interests Portfolio; provide financial support for property operations.
• Liaise with auditors, lenders, and external partners, contributing to strategic and compliance initiatives directed by the CFO.

What We're Looking For:

• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards one).
• 5+ years' experience in financial accounting or management reporting.
• Strong knowledge of NZ IFRS and tax compliance.
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience with Xero and property management systems.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and time management skills.
• A proactive, accountable approach, taking ownership, following through, and delivering with honesty, integrity, and efficiency.
• Calm under pressure and confident managing multiple priorities.

The following would also be a plus:

• Experience in commercial property, Māori commercial or iwi-owned entities.
• Exposure to sustainability or ESG reporting.
• Understanding of Ngāti Whakaue Kaupapa and values.
