About the Role
Looking for a role where every day is different? Join our Nursing Resource Team based at Whakatāne Hospital and play a key part in delivering exceptional patient care. As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), you will be the backbone of support for our nursing staff, stepping in when and where you are needed the most. Whether assisting with mobility, personal care, or ensuring a comfortable environment for patients, your contribution will be valued and impactful.
This permanent full-time role working 1.0FTE (40 hours per week) involves rostered shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends – offering variety and flexibility in your work schedule.

About you
You are a compassionate and reliable Health Care Assistant with a strong commitment to patient care. Your ability to adapt quickly, work within a multidisciplinary team, and provide excellent support to nursing staff will make you an invaluable member of our team. Essential skills and experience:
- Certificate in Health Care Assistance Level 4 (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience working as an HCA preferably in a healthcare or related setting.
- Ability to work a rotating roster across all shifts, including weekends and nights.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
