About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Oncology, Gynaecology Oncology is an advanced nursing practice role, working in partnership with the Gynae Oncology Surgical Teams at Te Toka Tumai/Auckland. The Clinical Nurse Specialist works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team committed to delivering quality care to this group of patients.

The service is committed to providing the highest standard of personalised cancer care possible to our patients and their family/whanau.

Ideally we are looking for nurses who have already obtained their Level 4 practice expertise as a minimum along with an in-depth knowledge and experience of oncology and preferably also of Gynaecology. A Masters or a Post Graduate Diploma would be an advantage. Excellent communication skills and problem solving skills are required. The ability to communicate effectively with and between all health care professionals involved in the patient journey is essential.

Skills and requirements:

  • Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand Nursing Registration and valid Annual Practising Certificate
  • Extensive experience in the oncology environment
  • Expert clinical knowledge and leadership skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills and professional manner and presentation
  • Ability to work independently but as a contributing member within the team environment
  • Solution focused approach to your work with the ability to problem solve and think on your feet
