The firm's relatively small Tax practice is expanding and we are looking for an accomplished Tax Manager or a Senior Manager to join their close-knit team in a key role.

The opportunity

The role has a technical twist and is a mix of client relationship management and business development. Reporting to and working closely alongside the Head of Tax, you will play a pivotal role in driving the future growth of the tax practice, while providing your clients with high-end advisory and compliance (only about 10%) services.

This is an attractive generalist role that may be particularly appealing to a Big 4/mid-tier managerial professional looking for a change of scenery, broader technical scope and faster career progression potential. The role is varied and multifaceted in nature and will provide the successful candidate with exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects and clients across many industries.

The technical mix of the role is 90%/10% high-end consulting/high-end compliance projects.

You will be given ownership of a portfolio of key clients – including some sizeable SME's, high-net-worth individuals, family offices and cross-border work through the firm's international network.

In this role, you will be involved in projects across every technical area within tax. Due to the nature of the firm's entrepreneurial clients, you will be able to see the direct impact of your advice on your client's success.

The successful candidate

We are looking for a CA or CPA qualified tax professional with a minimum of 6-7 years NZCA Tax experience, preferably within a larger firm. You may be a strong Manager ready to step up or an accomplished Senior Manager or an accomplished Senior Manager with a minimum of 8 years experience and looking for a new professional challenge.

In this role, you will be working across different teams within the firm, including supporting all partners, on a wide range of engagements, and operational and strategic initiatives.

Our client describes the ideal candidate for this role as a self-starter who is happy to roll up their sleeves and get some dirt under the nails, figuratively speaking. Naturally at this level, you will have proven business development skills and ability to impact and drive the future growth of the tax practice along side the partners and other senior members of the leadership team. The role offers a pathway to become Head of Tax for the aspiring. The pace and the direction of your career progression is up to you.
