New Zealand Trade Me Full time NZ$80,000 - NZ$120,000 per year
Trade Me Role Description

At Trade Me, we're about connecting Kiwi to create the life they want.
Whether it's the big things like finding a home, a job, a car or growing their
business, or the smaller things, like finding that right bedside table or parting
ways with some old stuff. At Trade Me our vision is to be the place where Kiwi
look first.

This is a 7 month fixed term opportunity

This role is key to providing top-quality, modern native mobile platforms (iOS & Android), products and enhancements for Trade Me and our Payments products. Your input will be vital to the technology roadmap and you'll define and drive forward the principles of quality, stable, and supportable software design. You'll help us keep a focus on ensuring our apps are delivered with quality, speed and care.

Here is what you can expect from this role:

  • Mentor and coach less experienced members of the team.
  • Build native applications for Android and iOS using the latest technologies to give our mobile users a world-class experience.
  • Take innovative approaches to improving our native mobile platforms.
  • Proactively lead the research and investigation to contribute new ideas that keep us at the forefront of innovation.
  • Be creative as part of a dynamic squad, developing exciting products. You'll contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, from ideation and design to user testing and more.
  • As a member of the Trade Me mobile guilds, you'll learn from others around the company and share your knowledge.
  • Uphold Trade Me quality standards including both manual testing and implementing functional and UI automated tests.

What you will bring to our team:

  • 5+ years' experience in similar mobile development roles.
  • Native iOS and Android development using Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • A good team player and trusted advisor, able to provide support and advice to others with a positive attitude and a willingness to collaborate.
  • Organised and comfortable with self-directed work; adaptable and can cope with change in a fast-moving environment.
  • An eye for detail; willing to work through the little things to make our mobile experience faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain.
  • Propensity for personal motivation, initiative, adaptability and the willingness to face challenges head-on.
  • Able to deliver a large feature consisting of multiple iterations, supporting architectural design decisions and discussions with Lead Software Engineers.

You'll have the best time working at Trade Me, and this is why:

#Flexibility: Flexibility means different things to different people and we support you to find what works, including a home office set up and utilities allowance. We value team connection and come together in person on Monday and at least one other day a week.

#Wellness: Being your best self means caring for your physical and mental wellbeing, we offer lots of resources to help you along the way.

#Leave: We support you with leave when you need it, including 5 days of wellness leave each year and 10 days of sick leave from day 1.

#Social: Nothing beats getting together to have some fun and celebrate our success. Join us in the office on payday for company paid lunches. Regular Friday drinks and nibbles, annual Trade Me company awards, celebrations and more.

#Learning: Whether it's on the job, formal training, mentoring or something else, you'll grow with us from Day 1.

We know some candidates can be reluctant to apply for roles if they feel they don't 'tick all the boxes'. If you're excited about this opportunity, we'd still really like to hear from you so please send us your resume and a short cover note outlining the "Why".

Trade Me is an INZ accredited employer. We truly value diversity and embrace a flexible workplace where people are encouraged to achieve their potential.
