About the role
This position spans both field and office operations, offering variety and technical challenge. You'll lead complex surveying projects, manage fieldwork, and mentor junior staff — all while ensuring high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex projects, overseeing planning, client liaison, and resource allocation.
- Apply advanced technical expertise and support team development.
- Conduct field surveys across varied environments using technologies such as GNSS, UAVs, Robotics, automation and 3D Laser Scanners as a professional in measurement.
- Ensure data integrity and produce high-quality outputs using AutoCAD, 12D, and LINZ systems, including e-Survey documentation.
- Maintain rigorous quality control and safety standards across all survey activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and BTW's HSE policies.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing expert technical advice and fostering collaboration. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
- Manage and analyse spatial data using GIS software to support planning and decision-making. Integrate survey data with geospatial systems to produce maps and models that inform environmental and infrastructure projects.
About You
- Diploma or Certificate in Surveying (or equivalent)
- 5+ years of professional surveying experience, including field and office work
- 2+ years UAV flying experience post-qualification
- CAA Part 101 certification required; Part 102 preferred
- Have a 'make it happen' attitude
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand
