The Defence Equipment Management Org (DEMO) ensures that equipment remains fit for purpose, reliable & safe to use. We are focussed on long-term, through-life management to support delivery of outputs for the NZDF.

As the Light Vehicles Equipment Manager you will be responsible for delivering quality, timely and cost effective equipment support and will manage all in-service aspects regarding the acquisition, through life management and disposal of the Light Vehicles which includes; light operational vehicles, domestic operational vehicles, light trailers and motorcycles.

Due to the nature of this role, there are very limited options to work remotely.

Please Note:The formal title for this role within NZDF is Equipment Manager, Light Vehicles.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

You will have a strong understanding of the motor transport industry, including knowledge around vehicle operations, the statutory requirements for motor vehicles and insurance, and vehicle lifecycle management best practice.

You will require a good understanding of fleet procurement, integrated logistics support, fleet optimisation and disposal.

Your skills in leadership, problem solving, risk management and prioritisation will be crucial to your success in this role, as well as a high level of attention to detail, good computer skills, experience in the use of a corporate ERP system, such as SAP (preferred) or Oracle.

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical language and complex information into effective communications.

You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence, at a minimum.

Higher Level Security Clearance

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
