About the role

This is a full-time overnight supervisor role at the Te Whare Aio Maori Women's Refuge in the Auckland CBD. As the Overnight Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing safe and supportive accommodation and services to women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence. The role involves supporting our organisation to ensure high-quality care and support are available 24/7.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment for women and children staying at the refuge overnight
  • Monitoring the refuge and ensuring all safety protocols are followed
  • Responding to any incidents or emergencies that may occur during the night shift
  • Supporting wahine and tamariki in residence
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required
  • Triaging crisisline phone calls, assessing the needs of the whaiora
  • Intake of wahine and tamariki overnight into refuge
  • resetting rooms, light cleaning, stocking up, security checks
  • Health and Safety protocols, evacuations, documenting incidents, responding to incidents

What we're looking for

  • Relevant experience in the community services or social work sector, particularly with vulnerable whanau
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide empathetic and non-judgemental support
  • Excellent crisis management and problem-solving abilities
  • Thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and trauma-informed care
  • Commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working in a culturally responsive manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Relevant qualifications in social work, community development, or a related field an advantage but not required
  • Resilience, flexibility can do attitude
