Smart Environmental is currently seeking a new Driver/Operator to join our Team based in Whakatu

About Smart:

Smart Environmental Limited works on behalf of local councils, businesses, and communities across New Zealand. Acquired by Blue Planet our mission is to divert waste from landfill, and with a large fleet of collection vehicles and line haul operations, we are committed to driving sustainability for the communities and businesses we serve.

About the Role:

Contract Type: Permanent Full-time

Days of Work: Minimum 5 Days (Have ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holiday)

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Key responsibilities:


• Complete daily pre-start and end-of-day vehicle checks to ensure safe and compliant operation.


• Accurately record driving and operational information using Eroad, logbooks, and in-cab systems.


• Safely operate a range of company vehicles and Equipment, following all training and operational procedures.


• Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures, maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.


• Maintain physical fitness on the job, including getting in and out of the truck multiple times throughout the day.

Skills and experience:


• Holds a current NZ Class 4 driver's licence, with proven experience operating Class 4 vehicles.


• Frontload vehicle experience is advantageous, but not essential.


• Strong commitment to health and safety, consistently following and promoting company policies and procedures.


• Confident using technology, including smartphones, tablets, and in-cab navigation systems.


• Mechanically minded, with strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.


• Clean New Zealand driving record.


• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
