*Mō te tūranga - About the role*
Family Works programmes include social work; support with whānau experiencing family violence; ongoing counselling support to adults, couples, youth, children and whānau; group and individual programme for Tamariki and Wāhine who have experienced trauma; parenting programmes.
We are seeking a dedicated Counsellor who has a good understanding of family and child context to deliver counselling and related support to Tamariki and their whānau. You will have experience of working with other health and social service professionals and teachers to deliver counselling support in schools.
This fixed term role is ideally working over three days - 24 hours per week, some flexibility on how these hours of work are managed over the fortnight may be possible.
You can expect to be looking after a busy caseload where no two days are the same. It may involve group work and related services to individuals, adults, adolescents, couples, families and whānau. You will be involved in working with children, whānau and individuals affected by a range of issues.
*Mō koe - About You*
You are a passionate, energetic person with the ability to connect to children and their whānau. You will be knowledgeable, organised and have excellent communication skills. Your approach to your work will be with kindness, good understanding of the counselling Modalities and process. Above all, you will have the drive to do right by the client.
You will be a Counsellor with experience working both on a one to one with clients and running group programmes supporting individuals dealing with family harm. You may have worked in a mental health environment or previously worked in schools.
In addition to being a passionate counsellor, you will also have:
- Registered Counsellor or equivalent professional qualification
- Ideally ACC Registered, although not essential
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, youth and children impacted by trauma
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, skilled, safe and identify creative approaches in supporting vulnerable people
- Experience working with family violence and trauma would be an advantage
- A positive approach and ability to work in a collaborative team
