About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

As an EAP Counsellor, you will provide counselling, critical incident debriefing, and other related services. You will work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team to deliver person- and whānau-centred interventions in both workplace and personal contexts. This is a contracting position to cover appointments as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic services including solution focussed short term counselling or other psychotherapeutic modalities appropriate to client needs.
  • Facilitating short-term interventions, goal setting, and psychoeducation for clients.
  • Conducting case formulation, session note documentation and using client management systems.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, referrers, and colleagues.
  • Engaging in supervision and professional development to maintain high-quality clinical practice.
  • Ensuring adherence to legal, ethical, and organisational standards, including privacy, safety, and client rights.

What you will bring | Ngā tohungatanga mō tēnei tūranga

  • Minimum 5 years' post-registration experience in counselling or psychotherapy.
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • Current full registration with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors or relevant clinical membership.
  • Experience providing a range of therapeutic modalities appropriate to the client group.
  • Experienced as an EAP Counsellor/Practitioner.
  • A passion about working in the health and wellbeing sector.
  • Must have current Indemnity Insurance.
  • Understanding of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights.
  • Commitment to The Treaty of Waitangi and bicultural practice.

  • Understanding of Māori and Pasifika health models, or identification with one of those communities is preferred.

  • The ability to deliver delivering services using Te Reo or a Pasifika language would be ideal but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and professional documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience with client management systems and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Location: can be based anywhere in Aotearoa
