Social Workers - Permanent and Fixed Term Roles

Jigsaw Whanganui is a values-based, whānau-centred organisation that honours Te Ao Māori, providing high-quality therapeutic social work services across the Whanganui, Rangitīkei and Ruapehu districts. Our work is grounded in Kaupapa Whānau – ensuring every whānau is heard, supported, and empowered.

We are seeking registered social workers, experienced in working alongside families and whānau with complex needs, to join our Social Workers in Schools team and our Intensive Home-Based social work team.

You will be responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic social work to whānau and families to enhance life outcomes for their tamariki.

What you'll be doing

  • Meeting directly with whānau and families in their homes to best understand their needs, hopes and aspirations
  • Establishing goals with families using a variety of social work methods and resources to achieve them.
  • Advocating for whānau and families and assisting them to access appropriate resources
  • Working collaboratively with schools, the wider agency team and community networks to ensure whānau and families receive the appropriate support

What we're looking for

  • A Social Work degree and full or provisional registration with SWRB
  • Skilled and experienced in working with and alongside whanau and families
  • Highly relational with a therapeutic and strengths-based approach
  • Ability to recognise risks associated with family violence, child abuse, trauma and mental health challenges
  • Able to connect with whānau and families in our community through whanaungatanga and manaakitanga

  • Able to work safely and respectfully with vulnerable and diverse people.

  • High personal integrity and a professional, reflective approach

  • A strong commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and able to work in a Te Ao Māori environment
  • Work collaboratively with others and contribute as part of a wider team
  • Good administration, time management and technology skills
  • Good self-care and self-awareness skills, able to maintain good boundaries
