Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
As Teaching Fellow in Sport and Human Movement, you will play a key role in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in areas such as Exercise Physiology, Exercise Prescription, Functional Anatomy, Biomechanics, Health and Physical Activity, Exercise Assessment, and Strength and Conditioning.
You will support the academic mission of the School by providing high-quality, research-informed teaching and practical learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, laboratories, and fieldwork. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development, assessment, and paper coordination, ensuring that students are well-prepared for careers in sport, health, and human performance.
Teaching Fellows at Waikato focus on excellence in teaching and learning rather than research, providing a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about education and student engagement.
Salary will be in the range of $79,211 to $111,169 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week) based at our Hamilton campus, with the potential for involvement in activities across the Tauranga campus.

Ko wai koe? – Who are you?
You will hold at least a Master's degree in Sport and Human Performance or a closely related discipline, and you will have demonstrated success teaching in tertiary education, particularly in areas central to sport and human movement sciences.
You are recognised for your ability to design and deliver engaging, contemporary learning experiences, including the use of online and blended teaching methods. You are highly organised, accurate in assessment and marking, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a busy academic environment.
Your communication skills are excellent, enabling you to relate effectively and sensitively to students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. You will also bring a genuine commitment to cultural safety, equity, and partnership with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and to supporting a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred candidates will have a relevant doctoral qualification (or be near completion), experience with curriculum development, and knowledge of professional accreditation frameworks in sport and exercise science or clinical exercise physiology.
