On behalf of my client, a long-standing industry leader in commercial plumbing design and supply, I'm seeking a technically astute specification professional to join their collaborative and supportive team.

About the Role:

  • In this autonomous, client-facing role, you'll manage the full specification process -from preparing detailed documentation, schedules, and tenders to presenting solutions and delivering technical product training
  • You'll work closely with architects, designers, engineers, central government, local authorities, and contractors, providing expert guidance
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with plumbing and building merchants, and other B2B clients
  • Attend conferences and tradeshows to stay connected with industry developments
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proactively search for projects and ensure products are specified
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the field
  • Ensure sales documentation is accurate and delivered in a timely manner
  • Auckland-based with occasional travel across the Taupo-to-Northland territory

About You:

You'll succeed in this role if you're both technically confident and commercially savvy  - someone who can build trust, influence decisions, and drive results.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience managing the specification process within the building or construction sector
  • Strong presentation and communication skills - confident delivering training, demos, and technical information to varied audiences
  • The ability to develop long-term relationships that positively influence project outcomes
  • A sales-hunter mindset, always looking for opportunities to add value and grow market share
  • A natural technical curiosity, ideally demonstrated through hands-on experience or hobbies involving mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems - this role demands someone who genuinely enjoys understanding how things work
  • Experience in building, construction, or related trades (plumbing knowledge is advantageous but not essential)
  • Independence, motivation, and a personable approach that enables you to quickly gain buy-in from stakeholders
