Te āheinga: The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Transition Communications Partner to make a significant contribution to strategic communications during this exciting change. You'll play a key role in developing and delivering communications strategies that protect and enhance the reputation of MIT and Unitec, while supporting the transition to a single entity. This is a fulltime, fixed term role starting Monday 2 February 2026 through to Friday 29 January 2027. This role will require you to work onsite at least 3 days a week and across both campuses.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement communications plans for internal and external audiences.
  • Support change projects with clear, engaging, and culturally inclusive messaging.
  • Create compelling content across multiple channels, including digital and video.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure consistent, effective communication.
  • Champion Māori and Pasifika language, culture, and perspectives in all communications.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of communications initiatives.

He kōrero mōu: What We're Looking For

  • At least 7 years' experience in strategic communications.
  • Tertiary qualification in communications
  • Proven ability to deliver communications plans that support change projects.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to provide trusted advice at all levels.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.
  • Familiarity with social media, CMS, and digital storytelling.

Desirable: Photography/video skills, and experience in tertiary education.
