Te āheinga: The Opportunity
As Legal Director Tāmaki, you will lead governance, legal, and enterprise risk functions. This pivotal role provides high-quality, commercially relevant legal advice and insights that influence decision-making at all levels, including Council and committee secretariat functions.
What you'll do:
- Lead with impact: Drive legal, governance, and risk strategies that shape our organisation.
- Champion compliance: Act as Privacy and OIA Officer, ensuring robust frameworks.
- Enable transformation: Oversee policy, contracts, and internal audit to support change.
- Inspire a team: Provide values-based leadership to a high-performing legal function.
- Advocate for Te Tiriti: Embed principles into everything we do.
He kōrero mōu: What We're Looking For
A strategic legal leader with the technical expertise and influence to operate at the highest levels. You will bring a deep understanding of law, governance, and risk management, underpinned by a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Qualifications: Postgraduate law degree and a current (or eligible) practicing certificate.
- Experience:
- Legal Expertise: Extensive background in corporate, commercial, and/or property law, with public sector or education experience an advantage.
- Governance & Risk: Strong capability in governance, policy development, risk frameworks, and internal audit.
- Leadership in Change: Demonstrated experience leading transformation and change initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead legal disciplines and teams at a senior level, including developing and implementing strategy.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, strong strategic acumen, and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders.
